What's the point of getting all dolled up for the Grammy Awards if no one notices your outfit? Since not everyone can earn a nomination or score a performance slot, sometimes you have to make your own news by crashing the red carpet with an eye-popping outfit that is sure to get tongues wagging. It's anyone's guess what this year's attendees will be wearing on Sunday night at the 54th annual awards show, but MTV News will be camped out on the carpet for a full three hours before the festivities kick off and we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for all the outrageous looks and fashions. Click for photos of our most-shocking Grammy red carpet moments! In the meantime, we thought it was worth a look back at some of the legendary entrances from Grammys past:

Lady Gaga egg: Sure, Justin Bieber toted his pet snake to last year's show, but it was, of course, Lady Gaga who turned the most heads by getting carried down the carpet in a giant, see-through egg that she incubated in before emerging later in the night for her performance of "Born This Way." Britney gets bodied: Britney Spears has long prided herself on wearing what she wants, when she wants. But someone should have pulled her aside in 2010 before she exited the car in an oddball Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit overlaid with a lace dress that turned heads for all the wrong reasons. M.I.A.'s pregnancy chic: With her middle finger firmly tucked into place, the rapper/singer made her way into the 2009 show while nine-months pregnant in a cartoony, ruffled blue maternity dress and matching sneakers. Coldplay play dress up: It was kind of cool when Coldplay stuck with their bold Sgt. Pepper's-style suits for the whole Viva La Vida tour. But when they wore them to the 2009 show, it just felt ... silly. OK Go ... back to the drawing board: Viral icons OK Go are experts at drawing attention to their music with trippy, how-did-they-do-that videos. They drew mostly sniggers, though, when they donned matching brocade curtain-looking red-and-gold suits to the 2007 show. Their smartest move may have been to cover their faces with red cloth. R. Kelly, man of mystery: Kels has made a career out of being inscrutable , but his bold sartorial choice at the 2004 Grammys was, well, weird. From the neck down he wore an elegant three-button black suit and tie, but the matching Robin mask? Who knows? Alicia Keys gets funky: Nobody really knows what Keys was thinking in 2002 when she walked the carpet wearing embroidered jeans, sandals, a white tank and a sheer green sari-like shift with a built in, bedazzled headdress. Toni Braxton lets it all hang out: Sometimes it's what you don't wear that gets attention. In 2001, singer Braxton sported a barely-there white "dress" that hardly covered her assets with strips of material that dangled in the front and back. Jennifer Lopez's plunging neckline: Way before she was an "American Idol" judge, Lopez sent hearts racing in 2000 with her instantly infamous plunging neckline Versace gown. Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Don't miss our Grammy red-carpet live stream this Sunday, February 12, for a full three hours of mayhem, starting at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.com. And the fun doesn't end Sunday: MTV News has you covered for all the Grammy red-carpet fashion, Grammy winners and Grammy news until the hangover wears off!

Providence High loses band director to cancer | CharlotteObserver ...

Tuesday night, a little more than a day before he slipped into a coma and two days before he died, Providence High School band director Paul Jackson sent text messages to assistant director Sarah Russell and band boosters president Debbie Thompson.

"He wanted to remind us about registration for Honors Band," Russell said Friday. "He wanted to make sure his students didn't miss the deadline."

Jackson, one of the Carolinas' most accomplished band directors, lost a six-year battle with cancer Thursday night. He was 40.

"He was exactly the kind of person you would want as a teacher for your child," said Providence High Principal Tracey Harrill. "He was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful person."

With extra counselors on hand Friday at Providence, students told dozens of stories about Jackson. They talked in amazement of how their ailing band director continued teaching until last Friday and planned to return.

"One kid recalled arriving here in ninth grade, not knowing anyone, and sitting in the corner," Thompson said. "He said Mr. Jackson went over to the corner and sat down next to him. 'You look like you need a friend.' Mr. Jackson told him, 'I'll be your friend.' "

Jackson's battle with cancer was well-publicized. He had to deal with numerous hospitalizations since being diagnosed with a rare form of the disease in 2005. He later developed an illness caused by the chemotherapy and then was diagnosed about a month ago with leukemia.

"I won the lottery on diseases," he told an Observer reporter in an interview last year. But he never let it get him down.

"We all knew he had cancer," said Jane Caldwell, president-elect of the Providence High band boosters. "But he always came back from the treatments and the setbacks. He always stayed cheerful."

Before Jackson slipped into a coma Thursday, band directors at the schools where he taught before coming to Providence - Scotland County High and Forest Hills High in Marshville - came to see him at the hospital. On Friday, a number of high school band directors visited Providence to talk with students.

"That's what people thought of him," Harrill said.

Mark Propst, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' performing arts specialist, said Jackson's final year at Providence was among his best. His band won a number of competitions last fall and was named Band of Honor at the Carrousel Parade on Thanksgiving Day in Charlotte.

Jackson also was selected to direct the All-District Band in a performance Jan. 29 at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory. Jerry Lowe, a noted school band director from Lincoln County, saw Jackson's performance and told Harrill, "His passion for teaching instrumental music was on a level I have only seen on a handful of occasions in my life."

Jackson, an accomplished pianist who was born in Gilbert, S.C., wasn't married and had no children.

"The students were his family," Harrill said. "When he learned he had leukemia, he delayed a treatment until after the All-District Band.

"Who would postpone their own health care? Only someone who would put the kids first."

(AP) ? An Indonesian militant charged in the 2002 Bali terrorist attacks told interrogators he spent weeks holed up in a rented house, painstakingly building a half-ton bomb using household items including a rice ladle, a grocer's scale and plastic bags.

A transcript of the Umar Patek's interrogation obtained by The Associated Press offers extraordinary detail of the Bali plot just days before Patek ? a radical Islamist once Southeast Asia's most-wanted bomb-making suspect ? goes on trial in Jakarta for his alleged role in the nightclub attack that killed 202 people.

Patek, known as "Demolition Man" for his expertise with explosives, says he and other conspirators stashed the 1,540-pound (700-kilogram) bomb in four filing cabinets, loaded them in a Mitsubishi L300 van along with a TNT vest bomb. The van was detonated outside two nightclubs on Bali's famous Kuta beach on Oct. 12, 2002. Most of those killed were foreign tourists.

The suspect told police that a small explosion occurred when they were loading the bomb in a van, nearly derailing the plot, according to the transcript .

Although homemade bombs are easily assembled by militants all over the world, making such powerful devices as those used in Bali ? and using such unsophisticated equipment ? would have taken enormous amount of care and expertise.

Patek, 45, goes on trial Monday following a nine-year flight from justice that took him from Indonesia to the Philippines to Pakistan, reportedly in pursuit of more terrorism opportunities.

He was finally caught in January 2011 in the same Pakistani town where U.S. Navy Seals would kill Osama bin Laden just a few months later. Patek was hiding out in a second-floor room of a house in Abbottabad, a $1 million bounty on his head, when Pakistani security forces, acting on a tip from the CIA, burst in.

After a firefight that left Patek wounded, he was captured and extradited to Indonesia.

His capture was seen as a yardstick of the successes that Asian security forces, with U.S. help, have achieved against Jemaah Islamiyah, the al-Qaida-linked regional terror group blamed for the Bali bombings and several other attacks in Indonesia. All its other leaders have been executed, killed by security forces, or are on death row.

Patek is charged with premeditated murder, hiding information about terrorism, illegal possession of explosives and conspiracy to commit terrorism, and now faces a possible death sentence as well. The indictment also accuses Patek of providing explosives for a string of Christmas Eve attacks on churches in 2000 that claimed 19 lives.

Interviews with intelligence officials in Indonesia and the Philippines, the interrogation report and other documents obtained by the AP reveal the peripatetic life Patek led after the Bali attacks as he ranged widely and freely, often without passing through immigration checks, while allegedly passing along his bomb-making skills to other terrorists.

The interviewed officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss intelligence matters with reporters.

Patek, whose real name is Hisyam bin Alizein, is the son of a goat meat trader. He went to computer school and learned English before being recruited into Jemaah Islamiyah by Dulmatin, a fellow militant who was gunned down by Indonesian police in March 2010.

After his arrest, Patek told his interrogators that he learned to make bombs during a 1991-1994 stint at a militant academy in Pakistan's Sadda province, and later in Turkhom, Afghanistan, where bomb-making courses ranged "from basic to very difficult."

He said he was living in Solo, Indonesia, when mastermind Imam Samudra approached him to make a bomb in Bali. He agreed and flew to Denpasar, Bali's capital, and was taken to a rented house.

"In one room of the house, I began to mix the explosive ingredients, which were already in the rental house," he said.

"For about three weeks, I made the explosive ingredients into black powder with the assistance of Sawad (a co-conspirator). For tools used in the mixing of the ingredients, I used (a) scale that will usually be used in a food store, rice ladle and plastic bags as containers."

Dulmatin separately worked on the electronic circuits, which were later attached as detonators to the bombs packed into the filing cabinets.

"When we were lifting the filing cabinets into the white L300 van, an explosion occurred which was caused by friction of the filing cabinet with the floor of the room, because the floor still had some leftover black powder on it," he said.

Patek left Bali a few days before the attacks were carried out.

Afterward, officials said, Patek and Dulmatin went to the Philippines and allegedly joined forces with the local extremist group Abu Sayyaf, spending the next several years training militants and plotting attacks, including against U.S. troops in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Imam Samudra and two other masterminds of the Bali attacks ? brothers Amrozi Nurhasyim and Ali Ghufron ? were caught, tried and executed.

Patek returned to Indonesia in June 2009, living in various rented houses in Jakarta. He held several meetings with radicals and aspiring militants at home and held assault rifle and bomb-making training sessions at a beach in Banten near Jakarta.

But Patek's heart was set on going to Afghanistan to fight alongside the Taliban or other extremist groups, said Ansyaad Mbai, Indonesia's anti-terrorism chief.

He told the AP that Patek intended to continue his fight in a more defined battleground with a larger radical group, and refused Dulmatin's offer to become an instructor in a new militant camp in Indonesia's Aceh province.

"He wanted to fight with a larger extremist group, and Afghanistan was the ideal battleground for him," Mbai said.

But to reach Afghanistan, he would have to go to Pakistan first.

A police investigator said that a 37-year-old Pakistani in Indonesia, Nadeem Akhtar, helped Patek get a Pakistani visa from his embassy in Jakarta.

After Patek arrived in Lahore, a courier with links to al-Qaida then brought him to Abbottabad, possibly to meet with bin Laden.

Mbai did not rule out the possibility that Patek went to Abbottabad to not only gain a foothold into Afghanistan but also to obtain funds for setting up a militant training camp in Jolo in southern Philippines.

But before he could make much progress or meet bin Laden, he was caught.

Patek's trial not only seeks justice for the Bali bombings, but also is a coup for intelligence officials. He is believed to have valuable information about al-Qaida and its links with Jemaah Islamiyah, which was founded by Indonesian exiles in Malaysia in the early 1990s.

The Bali bombing remains JI's most spectacular attack. Though there have been several others since, but none as deadly. Analysts credit a crackdown that has netted more than 700 militants since 2000, including the death of several key leaders in police action.

Will Adele be the belle of the Grammy ball? (AP)

Adele is the rare star who doesn't need multiple magazine covers, a cosmetics contract or a clothing line to sell albums. She does it all based on the strength of that sumptuous voice and those stirring songs.

That's a rarity in today's pop world, where artists are overexposed and their music often comes second to what they're promoting in tandem with it.

Adele scored an unlikely critical and commercial triumph with "21," last year's best-selling album, all based off the artistry of songs like "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You." And she'll be richly rewarded come Sunday, when the Grammys hand out their trophies at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. While Kanye West is the lead nominee with seven, Adele, who's up for six, will be the act who dominates ? well, at least that's what WE think.

Here's how the AP predicts the trophies will shake out Grammy night.

_____

ALBUM OF THE YEAR: "21," Adele; "Wasting Light," Foo Fighters; "Born This Way," Lady Gaga; "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," Bruno Mars; "Loud," Rihanna.

MOODY: The Grammys are famous for ignoring the shoo-in for some underdog in the top category, leading to a big shocker. That's just not gonna happen this year, though. None of these other albums can really even make the critical argument that they're better than "21," Adele's phenomenal and phenomenally successful album. This will be the topper on Adele's coronation on Grammy night.

FEKADU: So let's talk about who definitely won't win: Sorry Gaga, Bruno and Rih Rih. Foo Fighters, who strongly represent rock `n' roll in a pop/dance-dominated music world, has a chance. Well, no they don't. In one year Adele's "21" has sold more than six million copies and changed many lives, and I'm sure some of those people are members of The Recording Academy. She better give her ex a shout-out in her victory speech!

_____

RECORD OF THE YEAR: "Rolling In the Deep," Adele; "Holocene," Bon Iver; "Grenade," Bruno Mars; "The Cave," Mumford & Sons; "Firework," Katy Perry.

FEKADU: The real competition here is between Adele and Mumford & Sons ? whose songs are the best two of the bunch. But Adele not only had the record of the year, she had the best voice of the year, the best live performance of the year and the best everything of the year. She even had (one of the) best styles of the year (all black works, man!) If she doesn't win, I sure hope Kanye West jumps onstage and yells: "Adele had the best record of all-time. OF ALL-TIME!"

MOODY: Technically Adele has competition in this category, but really folks? None. As big as "Grenade" and "Firework" were, they are no match for Adele's smoldering performance, and Mumford & Sons and Bon Iver should split the bearded-hipster-indie cred vote. Adele takes home the trophy.

_____

SONG OF THE YEAR (songwriters): "All of the Lights," Jeff Bhasker, Stacy Ferguson, Malik Jones, Warren Trotter & Kanye West; "The Cave," Ted Dwane, Ben Lovett, Marcus Mumford & Country Winston; "Grenade," Brody Brown, Claude Kelly, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Bruno Mars & Andrew Wyatt; "Holocene," Justin Vernon; "Rolling In the Deep," Adele Adkins & Paul Epworth.

MOODY: Vernon is the only one to write a song without any help in this category, but as hauntingly beautiful as "Holocene" is, it's a little too obscure to really win here. "Rolling in the Deep" would be the obvious choice ? a little too obvious, perhaps. It's a risk, but I'm betting that Grammy voters finally give Kanye a little love after wrongly dissing him for album of the year ? just when he's starting not to care anymore.

FEKADU: She's wrong. I'm a Kanye supporter ? well sometimes I am ? but he shouldn't win this for a number of reasons. No.1, "All of the Lights" should NOT be the first rap song to earn this award. No. 2, the song is catchy, but is it great enough to be nominated here? He should have won this honor years ago for "Jesus Walks." But, Halle Berry did win the Oscar for "Monster's Ball" instead of "Losing Isaiah." OK, back to the music. Oh yeah, this will be going to Mumford & Sons.

____

NEW ARTIST: The Band Perry; Bon Iver; J. Cole; Nicki Minaj; Skrillex.

FEKADU: It's nice to see an electronic artist like Skrillex here, but he won't win. J. Cole's votes won't match those for Minaj. If Barbies could vote, Minaj would have a better shot. So it's down to critical indie group Bon Iver and The Band Perry, who have won so many music honors from all 10,000 of those awards shows for country music. I guess that means they'll win here, too.

MOODY: Skrillex is probably the least known act, but like Mesfin says, he won't pull off an Esperanza Spalding-type upset this year. Bon Iver is the indie choice but did anyone really listen to that album outside of the Pitchfork-set? J. Cole is too new, so that leaves us with a battle between Nicki Minaj and The Band Perry. As super-hot as Minaj is, I'm guessing Grammy voters will choose the musicianship of the sibling trio, who also had great commercial success with "If I Die Young," making them the balanced choice.

____

POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE: "Someone Like You," Adele; "You and I," Lady Gaga; "Grenade," Bruno Mars; "Firework," Katy Perry; "(Expletive) Perfect," Pink.

MOODY: This marks the first year that the men and women are duking it out for vocal performance, and judging by the list of nominees, Grammy voters aren't too impressed with male vocals this year. So despite his nomination, Mars won't likely win this battle with the ladies. Out of the girl-power clique, no one really has the power of Adele (though Pink comes close). Combine that with the heartbreaking emotion that she conveys, and you've got your winner. Adele, yet again.

FEKADU: What she said.

____

ROCK SONG: "The Cave," Mumford & Sons (Ted Dwane, Ben Lovett, Marcus Mumford & Country Winston); "Down By the Water," The Decemberists (Colin Meloy); "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall," Coldplay (Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion & Chris Martin); "Lotus Flower," Radiohead (Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, Phil Selway & Thom Yorke); "Walk," Foo Fighters (Foo Fighters).

FEKADU: Last year, Mumford & Sons didn't win best new artist or best rock song. Grammy voters didn't know how deserving the band was then, but they won't make that mistake again. Congrats boys on your Grammy win!

MOODY: Don't start building that trophy case just yet, boys. Mumford & Sons are still a little too new and a little too indie for Grammy voters to embrace (besides, they'd split the indie vote with the kings of that genre, Radiohead). The Foo Fighters had one of the top rock albums of the year and Grohl and Co. are veterans who are still rocking ? and the Grammys love survivors. And that's why the Foos will win here.

____

R&B ALBUM: "F.A.M.E.," Chris Brown; "Second Chance," El DeBarge; "Love Letter," R. Kelly; "Pieces of Me," Ledisi; "Kelly," Kelly Price.

MOODY: DeBarge's "Second Chance" has nothing on the second chance that Brown has been enjoying. The fact that he's nominated shows that Grammy voters don't hold a grudge for that Rihanna attack three years ago, and his comeback after being labeled the ogre of the music world has surely won over many former critics. Look for Brown's continued redemption with a win.

FEKADU: I'm not even going to pick any of these albums. I'm still upset Beyonce's "4" isn't nominated here. (OK, I have a bet with Nekesa so for strategy, I'll also go with "F.A.M.E." And if this is one of the awards to make the live telecast, be ready to see Chris Breezy cry, again!)

___

RAP/SUNG COLLABORATION: "Party," Beyonce and Andre 3000; "I'm On One," DJ Khaled, Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne; "I Need a Doctor," Dr. Dre, Eminem & Skylar Grey; "What's My Name?," Rihanna & Drake; "Motivation," Kelly Rowland & Lil Wayne; "All of the Lights," Kanye West, Rihanna, Kid Cudi & Fergie.

FEKADU: I wish Kelly Rowland and Lil Wayne would win for "Motivation," one of last year's best songs. Or "I'm On One," which could give DJ Khaled, Drake and Rick Ross their first Grammy wins. But that isn't likely. Look for Kanye, the rapper with the most Grammys (14 and counting), to get the win for "All of the Lights," which is also up for song of the year.

MOODY: It's hard to compete against a song that even featured Sir Elton John in the mix. For as much as people love to hate on Kanye, Grammy voters love him when it comes to the rap categories. No need for a West hissy-fit here ? he'll take the award, thank you.

_____

COUNTRY ALBUM: "My Kinda Party," Jason Aldean; "Chief," Eric Church; "Own the Night," Lady Antebellum; "Red River Blue," Blake Shelton; "Here for a Good Time," George Strait; "Speak Now," Taylor Swift.

MOODY: Swift was robbed by not getting a nomination in the general album category; she's probably already written a searing acoustic-guitar ditty about the snub for the new album. But maybe she won't publish it if Grammy voters do right by her in the country category. Chances are she won't be singing about Grammy blues after Sunday night.

FEKADU: Lady Antebellum won the coveted album of the year trophy last year and Swift the year before. But their follow-ups clearly weren't as good, according to Grammy voters. Now these country acts know how the rappers feel! Jason Aldean, though, had a tremendous year, and he deserves ? and will ? win this honor. Now cue up that new, angry Swift song!

If you have two sizes of pvc conduit, say 2" and 3", can you use a reducer of some sort?

Then get 3 inch PVC C conduit body and instert 2 to 3 inch reducer on one end so that way you can see and catch the fishtape there.

So that is one of few idea you can try.

Simuair to this photo but get one in 3 inch verison this useally found in electrical supply centre, but big box store it kinda semi long shot so I will say 50/50 they may have it or not.

Capello: No plans to coach in Italy (AP)

MILAN ? Fabio Capello says he plans to relax rather than return to coaching in Italy after blaming a "misunderstanding" for his exit from England job.

The Italian quit on Wednesday after the English Football Association's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy following alleged racial abuse of a player.

Capello was quoted by Italian news agency ANSA as saying Friday: "I haven't run away. I left because there was a misunderstanding. I was very happy there, but there are times when you just decide to leave."

Asked if he would coach again in Italy, the 65-year-old Capello said: "Not in Italy, absolutely not. For now, I want to relax."

Environmentally Sound Termite Control -- Staying at One with Nature

Termite control services aren't typically considered to be environmentally friendly. Most termite control specialists use chemical compounds and solutions in order to help you control your termite problem. In fact, because of the fact that termites are considered a pest by many, there are plenty of pest control chemicals used in the control of the termite population.

Termites love to breed in the warm California weather which is why they are so rampant in the Bay Area. You also have to consider the fact that most houses in the area are made of wood, since they are older houses and therefore breed more termites. You should also remember that since termites love the heat, they are also especially rampant when at humidity kicks in and so does the heat.

In order to combat the breeding of these termites and ensure that a house is protected against the effects of the termites, most companies spray or inject chemicals into the woodwork. Unfortunately, these chemicals, aside from not being environmentally friendly are also dangerous for your woodwork.

In order to help alleviate from the problems of non-environmentally friendly termite control techniques though, there are some companies that use improved methods. These methods are extremely high-tech and that's why only the best companies use these methods. One of the termite control services that can provide the best environmentally sound and people safe techniques is HiTech Termite Control. Not only does the company employ some of the best green termite control techniques, but they also offer warranties and of course excellent customer service.

Among the many termites treatments that they offer for example is their microwave treatments which they use in order to keep your home free from termites long term. At the same time a termite inspection is done to see how extensive the termite damage is and the type of treatment that is used is completely dependent on the damage which already exists. Additionally, you will find that the team offers solutions that are so low in toxicity that you don't even have to leave your home in order for the termite control team to be able to do their job.

There are so many termite control services available in the Bay Area that you can sometimes find it hard to choose one that will really be able to control your termite problem in an environmentally safe way. HiTech Termite Control is certainly capable of doing that for you. As an added plus, you can get a 10 percent discount if you book their service online at www.hitechtermite.com.

Vampire Diaries Video: Ian Somerhalder Says Damon Needs His Mojo Back (omg!)

Ian Somerhalder | Photo Credits: Bob Mahoney/The CW

Say goodbye to The Vampire Diaries' love-struck Damon Salvatore.

Throughout two-and-a-half seasons of The CW series, viewers have seen Damon (Ian Somerhalder) go from the cocky bad boy who will kill anyone anywhere to a more vulnerable vampire who finally shared his deep-rooted romantic feelings for Elena (Nina Dobrev). But Somerhalder says Damon is over showing that side of him and ready to return to his old ways.

VIDEO: A Vampire Diaries Original talks about [Spoiler's] return?

"You'll start to really see Damon shift from being repressed and stomped on to really making a shift and getting back this mojo he had," Somerhalder told TVGuide.com. "He realizes, 'I could cut my losses and move forward and be OK.'"

Chatting with the star, he admitted that he's pretty sure there's nothing Damon could do to truly sway Elena into reciprocating his feelings. "I think Matt, Tyler or even the family dog would have a better chance at getting Elena than Damon would," he said. "The thing that this man has done to this poor teenage girl is an insurmountable amount of bad and I can't foresee her turning unless he could get her away from vervain and compel her to forget everything he's ever done. Killing somebody's brother is totally the best way to say I love you! I think she's probably done with the Salvatore brothers for a while."

The Vampire Diaries Episode Recap: "Bringing Out the Dead"

As Klaus (Joseph Morgan) pointed out in the recent episode "Bringing Out the Dead," the worst thing for Elena might just be the company of either Salvatore brother. "What each of them has done is unforgivable. It's time for her to move on," Morgan added. And we all know how Damon likes to "move on" ? get naked and sudsy with lots of women. "Damon, no matter who he gets it from, needs his mojo back," Somerhalder says. "He's been pining for Katherine and pining for Elena ? Damon's not a piner! He needs to stop falling for the Roses of the world and get back to doing what he does best." And what he does best is what Somerhalder says he's most excited for fans to see in upcoming episodes: "Damon back to that Season 1 Damon, the Damon that really had righteous reasons but ill intentions and that's why we loved him."

Watch this week's Vampire Diaries Bite for more on Damon's love life (and how he compares Elena's lips to chocolate!):

Heart disease may lead to prostate cancer | Hamara Health

Washington, Feb 9 (ANI): Researchers have suggested that coronary artery disease may be a risk factor for prostate cancer.

If the relation is confirmed, the malignancy might be combated in part by lifestyle changes such as weight loss, exercise and a healthy diet, which are known to prevent heart disease.

"What?s good for the heart may be good for the prostate," said Jean-Alfred Thomas II, M.D., a post-doctoral fellow in the Division of Urology at Duke Cancer Institute and lead author of the study.

Risk factors of coronary artery disease include inactivity, obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol, cigarette smoking, and diabetes.

Previous studies exploring the relationship between coronary artery disease and prostate cancer risk have found conflicting results, making it difficult to determine whether the malignancy is fueled by poor lifestyle choices.

In the current study, the Duke team used data from 6,390 men enrolled in a large study called REDUCE, a four-year, randomized trial to test the prostate cancer risk reduction benefits of a drug called dutasteride.

All the study participants had a prostate biopsy at the two- and four-year marks, regardless of their PSA levels. They also provided a detailed medical history that included their weight, incidence of heart disease, alcohol intake, medication use and other factors.

Among the men in the study, 547 reported a pre-enrollment history of coronary artery disease. This group of men tended to be older, heavier and less healthy, with higher baseline PSA levels, plus more diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. The men were also much more likely to develop prostate cancer, even after accounting for all the baseline differences.

Having coronary artery disease increased the men?s risk of prostate cancer by 35 percent, with the risk rising over time.

The group was 24 percent more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer within the first two years of the study than men who reported no heart disease, and by four years into the study, this group?s prostate cancer risk was 74 percent higher.

"We controlled for a number of risk factors, including hypertension, taking statins or aspirin. We don?t have a good grasp on what?s causing the link, but we are observing this association," Thomas said.

Stephen Freedland, M.D., associate professor of surgery and pathology in the Division of Urology at Duke and senior author of the paper, said the study had some shortcomings. Notably, it relied on data from a previous trial that didn?t account for factors such as diet, physical activity and severity of heart disease that may have influenced the results.

But Freedland said the study eliminated a screening bias common in previous findings that correlated prostate cancer and heart disease using men with high PSA levels.

The finding appears online this month in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention. (ANI)

The Reality Of Natural Anti-Aging Skin Care | New Health and Fitness

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

Whenever somebody looks at his or her face in the mirror, manifestations of aging in the face can be found in many forms ? folds, blemishes, wrinkles, lines, etc. Especially on the distaff side, older women in particular, these are signs that could be severely damaging to one?s self-esteem and sense of physical attractiveness. However, it is part of nature?s way that these changes occur to us as we advance in age; as such, everybody has to go through these changes at one point or another in their lives.

There are many adults who mistakenly believe that they will only experience the facial manifestations of aging once they reach fifty and above. But little do they know that wrinkles develop from as early as birth. In fact, a large percentage of adults only realize that they need to take good care of their face once they are at least fifty. So it is extremely important that an individual, if he has not started caring for his skin, do so while it is still most likely early. For those in their 20s, maintaining a sound anti-aging skin care regimen is a must to ensure healthy skin as they grow older.

For the time being, there are two methods that a person can use alternatively for their facial care needs. One is through artificial means, and the other is a natural method.

Many people opt for chemical-based treatments or surgery to take care of their skin and keep it healthy. However, the effect of a lot of these treatments is but evanescent, and it is also common for the effects of such procedures to subside over time. In such an event, the person who had undergone surgery or used chemical treatment would have to, in informal parlance, start from square one, which means spending even more money simply for the sake of maintenance.

On the other hand, natural anti-aging skin care methods have been proven to be safer and, in many cases, more affordable compared with cosmetic surgery. Natural anti-aging skin care methods, people can be sure to have a healthy physical and mental well-being. Some of the most effective anti-aging methods are the simplest, and therefore best ways to ensure that one has healthy skin for life. Because cigarette smoking, aside from causing lung cancer and emphysema, can cause wrinkling to the skin, it is highly recommended that smokers put aside their nasty vice for good. This bad habit dries the skin and, at the same time, speeds up a smoker?s aging process, making him or her look older. Almost everyone knows that smoking can cause harm to both the lungs and the skin. From this, people should be more than aware of the dangers of smoking to be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle and good-looking skin. An individual can also preclude premature aging of the skin by ascertaining what sunscreen type would be parallel to his or her skin type. Protection from the sun?s dangerous rays is not the only thing many sunscreen products can do. They can also help retain moisture in the skin, which is very important. With more moisture, one can avoid signs of premature aging such as facial lines and wrinkles. One final method to inhibit the process of skin aging would be eating animal tendons, chicken skin and other foods fortified with collagen.

Intel teaches Haswell the core values of teamwork, optimism

Sure you can make wild, individualistic boasts about having a 22nm fabrication process and three different GPUs, but that stuff counts for nothing without the magic of cooperation. The Amish know that and so does Intel, which is why its forthcoming Haswell cores will support Transactional Synchronization Extensions (TSX) -- a new instruction set designed to allow cores to work together more closely without hammering each others' fingers. TSX takes greater responsibility for the division of labor between cores at the hardware level, relieving the software programmer of some of this burdensome duty and hopefully allowing for finer-grained threading as a result. The system also relies on inherent optimism, with each core assuming that the others have handled their part of the work successfully. Inevitably, there'll be occasions when this happy belief gets splintered and a bad job has to be started again from scratch, but on average things should get done quicker and leave more energy for the barn dance.

Forex SSR 4 ? Blog Archive ? Obtaining A Brand New SUV: Do You ...

Before You Decide To Buy A New SUV Give Thought To If You Need It

Because SUVs are not known for having very good gasoline consumption, it is a strange concept to be looking for the SUV with the best fuel rating. Everybody knows that SUVs are among the biggest gas guzzlers on the roads, so why would you be concerned, if you are thinking about buying one. When you?re driving a SUV, you are telling the world that you don?t care about efficiency as much as luxury.bowtrol colon cleanse

Car companies that make fuel-efficient cars, including Subaru, additionally make gas guzzling SUV?s. How realistic is it to find an SUV that gets really good gas mileage. What makes that difficult tends to be that SUV is a classification that is pretty flexible. They are regarded as tough vehicles, which can be used for off-road driving, but that isn?t what the reality is. The fact is that a great many SUV?s cannot handle off-road driving and are simply built for status. A SUV is big enough to crush a smaller car in an accident but they are not safer cars. Although they are high above the ground and roomy, no matter how good their gas mileage is, a rollover crash can still end up fatal.breast actives

But is there a reason to get an SUV then? They?ve been correcting many of the design defects to make them safer, but if safety is the reason you want one, do a lot of research before you make a purchase. Is in fact the Saturn Outlook a sport utility vehicle or perhaps a mini-van? It is difficult to say but might a crossover vehicle having good fuel economy be described as a fuel-efficient SUV? There doesn?t look to be any point in looking for an SUV with good mileage. The explanation for having an SUV has nothing to do with fuel-efficiency, and if you can afford one, then you don?t have any problems affording the gas.digest it

If you genuinely wish to find a car that is fuel efficient, then don?t bother getting an SUV. You will find more suitable ways to spend your money than spending it on an SUV. Unless you need to have an SUV for some reason, you may be far better off to get something that fits what you need. It can be nice to receive the safety of a sizable vehicle, but they aren?t very safe. If you happen to look around, you?ll find cars that offer both space and fuel-efficiency to suit just about everyone.

Consumers should stop buying items strictly because of the recognition they bring. There actually are far better choices than SUVs for many of us who are considering buying one.

Murdoch's company settles phone hacking lawsuits (AP)

LONDON ? Rupert Murdoch's News International has succeeded in settling nearly all the cases in the first wave of lawsuits against it for phone hacking, with a new round of apologies and payouts announced in a London court Wednesday.

But a potentially damaging claim lodged by British singer Charlotte Church is still headed to trial, and a second wave of new lawsuits ? as many as 56 in all ? is still looming, lawyers told London's High Court.

News International, a division of News Corp., has tried hard to keep phone hacking cases from going to trial, launching its own compensation program overseen by a respected former judge and paying out hundreds of thousands of pounds (dollars) in out-of-court settlements.

On Wednesday, lawyers announced that nine more lawsuits had been settled, including cases brought by comedian Steve Coogan, former soccer star Paul Gascoigne and maverick lawmaker George Galloway. Some of the suits had multiple claimants.

"This has never been about money," said Coogan, who received a settlement of 40,000 pounds ($63,500). "Like other people who have sued, I was determined to do my part to show the depths to which the press can sink in pursuit of private information."

After each settlement, News International lawyer Michael Silverleaf said the company had accepted responsibility and regretted the damage it had caused. His company also agreed to pay the claimants' legal fees.

The lawsuits stem from revelations of phone-hacking and other illegal tactics at the now-defunct News of the World, where journalists routinely intercepted voicemails of those in the public eye in a relentless search for scoops.

Murdoch closed the 168-year-old paper in July amid a wave of public revulsion over its hacking in 2002 of the voicemails of missing 13-year-old Milly Dowler, who was later found murdered.

Gascoigne received 68,000 pounds ($108,000), while Simon Hughes, deputy leader of Britain's Liberal Democrat party, received 45,000 pounds ($71,500). Hughes said in a statement that everyone who allowed a large company to behave illegally must be brought to account.

Lawmaker Galloway, known in the U.S. for his uncompromising opposition to the Iraq war, received 25,000 pounds ($39,700) and an admission from Silverleaf that his company had intercepted five of Galloway's voicemails around the time of the 2003 invasion.

Sally King, a friend of former British Home Secretary David Blunkett, received 60,000 pounds ($95,300), while her husband Andrew received 50,000 pounds ($79,400). Silverleaf acknowledged that a News of the World journalist followed the pair to the U.S. where they'd tried to find refuge from press intrusion.

Her father and brother also received substantial damages, as did former Labour Party spin doctor Alastair Campbell and other claimants, including investigative journalist Dennis Rice and Sheila Henry, whose son, Christian Small, died in the July 7, 2005, terrorist attacks on London's transport system.

Sports agent Sky Andrew also received 75,000 pounds.

Silverleaf said that Church's suit is "one of the more complicated cases, and one where the claimants have taken a particularly polarized view."

It may also be one of the more embarrassing cases for Murdoch's media empire. Church was only a teen when she came to prominence in the press and the angel-voiced singer has already testified to a litany of media abuse.

The former child singing sensation has told Britain's media ethics inquiry that she and her family had come under unbearable media scrutiny.

Pretrial arguments between her lawyer, David Sherborne, and Silverleaf focused Wednesday on the toll that journalists' pursuit took on her mental health and her family's business.

A lawyer for private investigator Glenn Mulcaire asked for reporting restrictions to be imposed on the trial, arguing that the Church case might otherwise be prejudicial to his client, who has been arrested and could face criminal charges.

Mulcaire, one of the central figures in the phone hacking case, is also being sued by Church and her family.

Judge Geoffrey Vos said that he was "extremely hostile" to imposing blanket reporting restrictions on the Church case, saying there is a public interest in letting the facts be known. He said he might consider an "appropriate, limited order" in the case at a later hearing.

News International has already settled with several prominent figures, including actress Sienna Miller and the family of Dowler, whose phone was broken into by the paper soon after her disappearance in 2002.

The scandal ripples on, with more than a dozen ex-Murdoch employees so far arrested by police investigating phone hacking and bribery.

British politicians and police also have been ensnared in the scandal, which exposed the cozy relationship between senior officers, top lawmakers and Murdoch newspaper executives.

A government-commissioned inquiry is currently investigating the ethics of Britain's media and its links to police and politicians. Heather Mills, former wife of musician Paul McCartney, is expected to testify before the inquiry Thursday.

Report: Iran says it could hit US forces anywhere

Iran is capable of hitting U.S. military forces anywhere in the world if attacked by the United States, its ambassador to Moscow was quoted as saying at a news conference on Wednesday.

Reuters reproted that Russia's Interfax news agency quoted Seyyed Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi saying the United States would be making a mistake if it carried out a military strike on Iran, although Washington has announced no such plans.

"The Americans know very well what Iran is like and what our potential is," Sajjadi was quoted as saying in Moscow. "Iran is in a very good position to deliver retaliatory strikes on America around the world ... An attack on Iran would be suicidal for them."

The ambassador's reported comments came as Western sanctions appeared to tighten a financial noose around Iran.

Tension with the West rose last month when the United States and the European Union targeted Iranian oil exports in their efforts to halt what they suspect is Tehran's quest for an atomic bomb.

Malaysia has halted palm oil exports to Iran because of payments problems and Asian oil buyers have cut crude purchases.

'Deceptive practices': US levies new sanctions on Iran

Traders in China said they would cut iron ore purchases from Iran, which are worth over $2 billion a year, because of sanctions that have forced payment defaults on Indian rice imports and prompted Ukrainian and European sellers to stop booking shipments of Ukrainian grain to the Middle East country.

Iran to go green?
Iranian energy minister Rostam Qasemi said Wednesday that Iran should invest in renewable energy to preserve its oil and other hydrocarbon reserves.

Iran's renewable sector is tiny, as in much of the Middle East where investments have been focused on building energy-hungry industry fuelled by cheap oil and gas.

Obama: Diplomacy preferred solution' with Iran

Iran's pressing need to reduce its own gas and oil use has also been the driving force for building the country's first nuclear power plant so that it can export more fuel, , according to Reuters.

"Reliance on hydrocarbon resources in the long run is neither possible nor meets national interests," oil ministry news website Shana reported Qasemi as saying in a statement.

"Gradual reduction of oil consumption on the one hand and a revolutionary and swift move toward using renewable energies on the other hand are the only appropriate mechanisms which can help the country," Shana reported him as saying in a statement delivered to the National Energy Conference in southern Iran.

China, the world's second-largest oil consumer and Iran's biggest customer, has been courting Saudi Arabia as it scours the globe for alternative oil supplies to replace a fall in its imports from Iran, while Korean and Japanese leaders have toured the Gulf looking for backup supplies.

New poll shows Canadians want to make family a priority ? UBC ...

More Canadians think it is a ?good idea? to reallocate budget increases from medical care to benefits for families

?

Canadians want to make family a priority ? 85 per cent want to spend more time with their families and 60 per cent want governments to support policy changes that make it easier to raise a family, according to a national poll by McAllister Opinion Research about research led by University of British Columbia professor Paul Kershaw.

?Despite having all the amenities of modern life, two-thirds of Canadians resist the idea that today?s families have it easier than in the past,? said Kershaw.?The McAllister poll examined public attitudes about the degree to which we prioritize family time and responsibility in this country. This is the second set of data to come out of the poll; earlier data examined Canadians? attitudes about public funding priorities.

The poll shows that 60 per cent of Canadians ?agree? or ?somewhat agree? that ?compared to what is spent in other areas, Canadian governments do not do enough for families raising young kids today.? Accordingly, 60 per cent indicated they would ?vote for a politician who has publicly committed to fighting for better government policies for families with young children.?

Kershaw, an associate professor at UBC?s Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP), said, ?it is far more common that today both parents need to work in order to eke out a standard of living that is often lower than one salary could achieve a generation ago.?

The poll reveals that 62 per cent of Canadians think it?s a good idea to invest in ?New Mom and New Dad benefits,? which would make it affordable for all parents, including the self-employed, to spend up to 18 months at home with newborns ? splitting the leave between moms and dads.

Sixty-six per cent of Canadians think it?s a good idea to ?subsidize $10-a-day quality child care? and 80 per cent of Canadians think it?s a good idea to invest in more flex-time, allowing parents more flexibility and time at home.

Recognizing that Canada is experiencing tough economic times, the poll shows that Canadians are willing to make hard choices to pay for these programs and services including revisiting sacred cows like medical care increases, or tax cuts.

When asked specifically about reallocating recent spending increases from medical care and investing it in family policy instead, only 37 per cent of Canadians responded that this was a ?bad idea,? compared to 42 per cent that thought it is a ?good idea,? and 21 per cent that were unsure.

More Canadians also think it is a ?good idea? than a ?bad idea? for all Canadians to contribute to new family policies through their income taxes, including a slim majority of Canadians under 45.

Kershaw noted that combined federal, provincial, and municipal revenue is down more than $90 billion as a share of our economy today compared to 1980, while over the same period, medical care spending is up $47 billion.

?When we choose to cut the total revenue pie by $90 billion, but increase the slice for medical care by $47 billion, we leave $137 billion less for other priorities.? The generation raising young kids is definitely feeling this pinch, because it now means Canada has very weak family policy by international standards.?

Kershaw released this data on February 7 in Ottawa following an invited presentation to the Government of Canada Standing Committee on Health.

?

Last fall, UBC Professor Paul Kershaw and colleagues at HELP compared the costs of living, household incomes and services available to families in Canada today with those during the 1970s and found that young couples today are raising families with less money and time than the Baby Boomer generation.

Kershaw has proposed policy changes to make it easier to raise a family, called the ?New Deal for Families.? These changes include enabling mothers and fathers to stay at home with newborns until they reach at least 18 months of age, providing quality child care services that cost no more than $10 per day, and allowing employees and employers to use flex-time to better balance time spent at work with time spent at home.

These most recent polling data shows that the majority of Canadians support the ?New Deal for Families.? Recognizing that Canada is experiencing tough economic times, the poll also shows that Canadians are willing to make hard choices to pay for these programs and services including revisiting sacred cows like medical care increases, or tax cuts.

?The cost of the New Deal for Families would amount to less than a cup of coffee and doughnut at Tim Hortons: $1.67 per day and the poll showed us that more than half of Canadians are willing to spend that on investing in families,? said Kershaw.

In partnership with YMCA across Canada, Kershaw has embarked on a national speaking tour asking communities across the country: Does Canada Work for All Generations? Kershaw will be in Ottawa on February 8 as part of the tour, hosted by the National Association of Children and Youth and the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region. For more information, visit: http://www.ymcaywca.ca/whats-happening/314/

Funding and community partners in BC helped to launch the national tour, including the Vancouver Foundation, United Way of the Lower Mainland, YWCA Metro Vancouver and the YMCA of Greater Vancouver.

Capital Access Network Raises $30M From Accel To Loan Small Businesses Working Capital

nonameIn this economic climate, many small businesses do not qualify for loans based on the standards imposed by banks and financial institutions. For fledgling businesses, the establishment doesn't have enough cash flow, revenue or credit to qualify for a loan. Many times, entrepreneurs have to put up personal assets as collateral for loans, which can be problematic and risky. The fact is working capital is difficult to get from banks unless a business has perfect credit. Capital Access Network (CAN), a company that gives small businesses access to credit and working capital and helps solve the problem outlines above, is announcing this morning that it has raised $30 million from Accel Partners. As part of the transaction, Accel partner, Kevin Efrusy will join Credit Access?s board of directors, and Accel vice president, John Locke, will join as an observer.

1. I am Gm what ever I say goes!
2. No anime pictures or celeb pics.
3. Have fun
4. Keep the ratios even. I will not accept if it does not keep them even.
5. Please be able to post a paragraph or two at a min and seven is a max.(Although you don't need to post that much.) I will deny if I have rped with you before and know you can't post the min.
6. Pg. 14.. Romance is encouraged but listen to rpg rules on this one. Blood description is alright and cussing is fine I mean..Teens do cuss just no cussing like a salior.
7. Lastly NO cannons! I made it in this era for a simple reason. No parents of some students or children of others..Strictly OC's. I like to see original characters. Also only one character per a person as of the moment, depending on how much interest this gets.

(Pm me with any questions you may have! :D Reservations will be two days)
