2012 ISPA Conference in Orlando Closes On an ... - Getting Great Spa

The first of the 2012 Conference keynotes delivered by the passionate Jim Collins, leadership guru and author of Great by Choice, who kicked off the Conference on Monday with style and verve, was followed by?Tuesday?s?Mind, Body and Sprit Keynote, astutely designed to fill us to the brim with Inspiration:

  • Rancho La Puerta?s iconic Deborah Szekely, youthful at the age of 90, ?encouraged us to nurture our minds through regular exercise (she still does Pilates 4X a week) and deep breathing; to bring intentional silence to the mind; have regular ?meetings? with our mind and to reflect, as she does, once a week on what you have done and how you can learn from it. She ended with a passionate call to action to join her?Wellness Warriors?to unite and stand up for wellness by lobbying in Washington, D.C. for health and wellness in a sort of ?Arab Spring? of our own.
  • Dr. Jordan Metzl, author of?The Athlete?s Book of Home Remedies, reminded us that a body low in fitness is at an increased risk of early (ier) death and disease. He stated that 95% of injury and trauma is due to overuse and we need to set compelling fitness goals for ourselves that strengthen the muscles to prevent injury. Though not all of us are marathon runners or iron men and women, fitness remains a major key to optimal wellbeing both physical and mental.
  • Very cool Louie Schwartzberg gave a short introduction to some exceptionally moving and beautiful visual commentaries on gratitude?and?pollination?by bees, bats and hummingbirds (do click and have a look!). The entire audience was rapt and kept spellbound by his endearing lisp
and Moving Art that left not a few moved to tears ? including yours truly!

    Deborah Szekely

All three reminded us that our Body, Mind and Spirit spa mantra is not just a tired catchphrase or cliche, rather it?s alive and well and as vibrant today as ever!

Part Three of this series covers the keynote of dynamic and compelling Peter Shehan, author of Flip and Generation Y.
